Tale of Two Countries
I really like Henry Bonsu's recent article "A Tale of Two Countries" for the guardian.
He notes the irony of the Ghanaian government's promotion of Ghana as an ultimate tourist destination when the aspirations of many inside are to someday get outside.
It is funny how we all can project our fantasies onto the otherside. Ghana as all embracing motherland, good food, lovely weather, a locus of Black empowerment. UK/US as land of opportunity, money, money, money, money, running water, working bureaucracy, equality.
You don't know how to appreciate what you've got until you don't have it.
